Ready Player Two coming UP!

Ready Player Two

In 2011, Ernest Cline published his first novel, Ready Player One, a book dedicated to pop culture, especially the 70s, 80s video game lovers. In 2018, the movie was released, and it was directed by Steven Spielberg. I've started off with the film and see how it has awed us, moviegoers, with its extensive pop-culture references, over 120+ easter eggs including superheroes cameos, videogames secret, fictional characters tributes were featured in the movie.  Watching the movie was a joyride for me, trying to name every character object I know that appears on the screen. I even watched it a few times to see what have I missed. That was my very first easter egg hunts in the theater. (No, I hadn't been looking for Stan Lee in Marvel's movies, he's too obvious for me).

Then, I got my hand on the book, and it did not disappoint me. The book was almost totally different from its film version, and well, that's the fun.

Gundam VS Mechagodzilla
(In the book, it was Ultraman  (Parzival) VS Mechagodzilla)

Ready Player One Mecha

and Parzival was piloting Leopardon from Supaidaman, the Japanese adaptation of Spiderman. Aech pilots an RX-78; Artemis a Minerva X and Shoto a Raiden).

As a 90s kid, the book and film have really kindled my interest in the 70s, 80s pop culture. Classic movie night Friday has remained ever since.

So, good news for me, the sequel, Ready Player 2 is finally coming up on the 24th of this November. Yay!! Ready Player Two movie will be filming in 2021 and if everything goes right, might be screened in cinemas in 2024. The movie will most likely be directed by the same director, Spielberg with the original cast.

Ready Player One Casts

Penguin Random House has released a synopsis for Ready Player 2, and here it goes.

Days after OASIS founder James Halliday’s contest, Wade Watts makes a discovery that changes everything. Hidden within Halliday’s vaults, waiting for his heir to find, lies a technological advancement that will once again change the world and make the OASIS more wondrous — and addictive — then even Wade dreamed possible. With it comes a new riddle and a new quest, a last Easter egg from Halliday, hinting at a mysterious prize, and an unexpected, impossibly powerful, new and dangerous rival awaits, one who will kill millions to get what he wants. Wade’s life and the future of the OASIS are again at stake, but this time, the fate of humanity also hangs in the balance.

Not much is known about the plot beside this, but one thing I can be sure, I gonna have fun easter hunting in the theater again. Cheers to me.
